Bret Weinstein (evolutionary biologist) and Dr. Pierre Kory (ICU and lung specialist) were guests on Joe Rogan’s June 22nd podcast publish #1671, in which they discussed very specifically the drug Ivermectin and it’s studies and use cases pertaining to COVID-19 and drugs surrounding it.

Another main theme of the podcast revolved around the blatant and direct censorship of any scientific discussion concerning Ivermectin by national health entities and social media websites like Facebook and YouTube. The main point being that although “authoritative sources” refuse to consider Ivermectin as a treatment, they do not provide contradictory evidence that indicates that Ivermectin is incapable of treating COVID-19 either. The roadblocks either seem to exist in the form of outright censorship of legitimate medical discussion by medical experts and scientists, or simple obstructionist arguments, according to Dr. Pierre Kory.

The studies discussed are highlighted on this website, which provides the details and outcomes of the studies as well as the publication details of the studies.

The basis of Dr. Kory and Bret Weinstein’s argument suggests that although arguments exist that allege that the evidence is not peer reviewed or is low quality evidence for it’s effectiveness..[source study]

The studies conducted claim extremely high confidence results and that peer review and randomized control trials have all been conducted.

They additionally highlight in the podcast that the trials show positive results for not just treatment of patients sick with COVID-19, but that even light doses of the drug seem to prevent infection from happening in the first place.

It’s also worth noting that the price for Ivermectin is incredibly low and easy to access. A simple google search confirmed that this is not an expensive drug for most Americans to obtain.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Dr. Pierre Kory is part of the FLCCC, a nonprofit alliance of medical professionals who advocate for prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

Another shocking piece of evidence provided involves the CDC and FDA’s effort to ignore, fail to approve and to discredit this drug, while the study results that Ivermectin has far outweigh other similar drugs that have been previously approved.

The FDA holds the top result on Google for the word “ivermectin”, with the headline being “Why you should not use Ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19”.

The post on the FDA’s website attempts to disown the drug only by suggesting that

Taking a drug for an unapproved use can be very dangerous. This is true of ivermectin, too.

Obviously any drug holds risks, but this statement uses phrases like “can be”, without citing any specific study that highlights risk to the user.

The FDA also highlights that “you could overdose” and that “you should not take large doses”.

With that being said, none of the suggested uses for Ivermectin by the FLCCC or other doctors in favor of it involve taking massive quantities that would create an overdose, and proper doses have been administered billions of times since it’s initial discovery and use in 1975.
